Unypad Barungis Chapter holds Islamic Symposium

COTABATO CITY (December 8, 2021) – United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) Barungis Chapter held an Islamic Symposium with the theme “Youth: Advocates of Moral Governance” at Barungis Social Hall, Barungis, Pikit, Cotabato last November 28, 2020. The activity aimed to strengthen the Aqeeda (faith) of youth and to become advocates of moral governance in their own community.
In her welcome remarks, Barungis Barangay Chairman Maita P. Adam expressed his gratitude to the organization for giving a chance for their youth in barangay to increase their knowledge in Islam.
“We are so blessed to be part of this activity and meet people whose aim is to spread Islamic teachings. In behalf of BLGU we are welcoming you all with our full support and heart,” he said.
Esmael Mamalindan, UNYPAD Barungis Chairman, shared the rationale of the activity citing, “We had this activity because we’ve seen that we need this. We need to strengthen our Aqeeda in order for us to live as real Muslims.”
The speakers of the activity were Datuan Magon, UNYPAD Deputy Secretary General, Sheik Norodin Abas and Sheik Fahad Mokalam, UNYPAD Da’wah Representative.
Mr. Magon gave updates on the current situation of Government of the Philippines (GPH)-Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Peace Process.
He explained the role of organization (UNYPAD) as the Third Party Monitoring Team (TPMT) on the negotiation between the two parties.
“As what Sheik Abas says, yes we arrived but were not yet in there. But UNYPAD, with the leadership of National President Dr. Rahib Kudto, we will do our part for the Bangsamoro homeland,” he assured.
Sheik Mokalam gave an Islamic orientation and elaborated the importance of believing the oneness of Allah (s.w.t.).
He further mentioned the Shirko Asgar (small sin) and Shirko Akbar (big sin) as types of sins in way of associating Allah to anything.
Sheik Abas gave an offshoot on Aqeeda Islamiya and Role of Youth in Jihad.
He emphasized the great role of youth in advocating moral governance for peace and development in Bangsamoro homeland.
Abas said he strongly believe that the Bangamoro Youth is not a poison but the hope of Bangamoro Homeland.
Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), Barangay Da’wah Committee and other sectors attended the activity.
