UNYPAD holds Islamic symposium in collaboration with MILF structures

ALEOSAN, COTABATO PROVINCE (December 31, 2020) – The United Youth for Peace and Development, Inc. (UNYPAD) held an Islamic symposium in collaboration with some structures of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front at Purok 8, Bario Migkampung, Barangay New Panay, Aleosan, Cotabato Province on December 25, 2020.

The activity organizers engaged the support of the Barangay Local Government Unit and the MILF’s Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), Political Committee and Social Welfare Committee.

It was themed “Bangsamoro Youth source of strength to uploading peaceful and progressive community.”

Aside from spreading the teachings of Islam among the youth, the activity was also aimed at providing the participants with the updates on the Government of the Philippines and MILF peace process.

The activity further aimed to help mobilize the youth and entice them to contribute in Islamization efforts in their respective communities.

Abdulcadir Zaman, Chairman UNYPAD New Panay Chapter, gave the overview of the symposium, pointing out that the activity was realized though the participation of UNYPAD New Panay Chapter along with BLGU, POLCOM, SWC and local commanders in the area.

Datuan ‘Dats’ Magon, UNYPAD Deputy Secretary for Administration, gave the updates the current situation of GPH-MILF peace process and discussed the possible scenario of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for the proposed extension of the Bangsamoro Transition Period from 2022 to 2025.

Magon also elaborated the possible problems that should be anticipated and be prepared for.

“We are now in the battle wherein our ideas, knowledge and principles required the most in engaging political assertion and right to self-determination,” he emphasized.

Al-Hafidz Murad Dalid Amad, along with Norhamen K. Taparan, both members of Committee on Da’wah and Education in Pikit chapter, was also in the program to give more emphasis on the topic Aqeeda Islamiya and the role of youth in the disseminating the teachings of Islam.

Deputy Brigade under 108th Base Command Hadji Omar Madidis was present in the program to give his message of support to the activity.

“You (youth) need to educate and capacitate yourself to become a youth leaders, and always remember that you are the hope of our homeland,” he pointed out.

UNYPAD North Cotabato Cluster II Vice-Chairman for Internal Affairs Nasrudin Landaila delivered his short message citing, ‘’We are very thankful to the leadership of New Panay chapter because conducting and organizing people is not an easy task and it really needs continuous efforts in implementing programs and services that we have promised.”

Organizers thanked the active participation of the BLGU, PolCom, SWC, MILF-BIAF and other stakeholders in the community that contributed to the success of the activity.
