March 22, 2013: The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) together with the Mindanao Dynamic Culture of Peace (MIDCOP), the Non-Violent Peace Force in the Philippines (NVPF) held a forum in Malabang, Lanao del Sur March 1, 2013 in order to educate the stakeholders on the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
Notable speakers from the academe and other sectors spoke on the significance of the Framework Agreement and its apparent improvement from the Organic Act that created the present Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Among the resource guests are: Prof. Camilo Bangcola, Executive Director of the Bolayoka Inc. and also faculty from the Alkuwarizmi International College of Marawi City.
Indeed, the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro is for all the residents of its identified territory of the Bangsamoro Political Entity whether they are Muslims, Lumads, or Christians according to Mr. Omair B. Saripada of the UNYPAD-Coastal Lanao Area President.
Attendees from the Christian church and some leaders expressed their solidarity with the Bangsamoro in the hope of finding a final political end to the ‘Mindanao Conflict’ through the Framework Agreement. Facilitated by Municipal Engineer Camar Maoyag Pati as moderator, the doubts and fear over the establishment of the Bangsamoro Political Entity were noted and answered during the open forum.
The Portugal representative of the NVPF expressed also his elation over the overwhelming enthusiasm and support to the peace activity made possible by the UNYPAD and the Executive Director of the MIDCOP, Mr. Jamael Datu Dacula and staff.
The said forum was the first advocacy activity in the municipality of Malabang, province of Lanao del Sur.
