PAGLAT, Maguindanao (July 15, 2015) – The Ramadhan Islamic Symposium held in Sittio Kiludan, Barangay Damalusay, Paglat, Maguindanao was successfully conducted on July 10, 2015 by the United Youth for Peace and Development Inc. (UNYPAD Inc.) Paglat Municipal Chapter in coordination with the UNYPAD Maguindanao Cluster-3 Provincial Chapter.

Paglat Municipal Chairman Chapter Amrallah U. Abdulwahab disclosed that the objectives of the activity were to enlighten the participants regarding the significance of Ramadhan and the role of youth in the present status of the Bangsamoro struggle for right to self-determination.

“Some 350 individuals participated in the said affair,” he said.

The resource persons were Ustads Muhiddin Midsuyao and Ustads Zuharto Mamengkog, both are staff of the UNYPAD National Chapter’s Committee on Da’wah and Education.

In his brief presentation about UNYPAD, Maguindanao Cluster 3 Provincial Chairman Akmad S. Musa said that the UNYPAD is a nationally operating organization which has established community and school-based chapters in the different parts of the country.

“Since its inception in 2004, UNYPAD started to establish chapters in the different provinces and schools – state colleges and universities – and now the organization has 23 provincial chapters excluding school-based, and this organizing program, as one of the organization’s major programs, continues,” Musa said.

Musa also clarified that the organization’s leadership has given space for women by creating a Women Affairs Committee that has been responsible for planning and implementation of activities geared towards women empowerment.

“This is an enough manifestation that the organization recognizes the crucial role of women in advancing activities towards socio-economic and political developments, and in supporting the peace processes,” he added.

Ustads Midsuyao discussed the significance of Ramadhan and the role of youth in the present status of the Bangsamoro struggle.

“If you are sincerely taking prayer in Ramadhan you will get reward which is an equivalent to 10,500 obligatory (faradho) prayers,” he said.

Ustads Midsuyao further explained that if a Muslim is heartily performing Tahajud—a midnight prayer; worshiping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him in a thousand months – it is equivalent to 83 years and 4 months.

The activity ended at 2:00 pm. The municipality of Paglat belongs to the 2nd District of Maguindanao and it is a newly organized municipal chapter under the third cluster of provincial chapter of UNYPAD in Maguindanao.
