KABACAN, North Cotabato (August 2, 2016) – The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD)-North Cotabato Cluster-3 held Seminar-Workshop on Islamic Leadership and Management on July 30-31 at the Mahad Kayaga, Kabacan, North Cotabato.
Gutierrez Lumenda, North Cotabato Chapter Chairman said that there are four Municipal chapters that participated in the seminar such as Kabacan, Carmen, Matalam and M’lang, all in North Cotabato.
He also disclosed that the Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) stationed in North Cotabato areas helped realized the activity.
“Brother Bhenhar Ayob of the NP lectured on their mandate as an unarmed civilian peace institution. NP is part of existing mechanism in the the GPH-MILF peace process; and protecting civilians during violence in their areas of responsibilities (AOR),” Lumenda said.
He further said that the objectives of the training were to mobilize and strengthen the knowledge and skills of young individuals, get prepared for inevitable situation in the future.
Some participants said that they faced real challenges when they engaged in practical workshops.
“The facilitator from UNYPAD national chapter challenged our levels of readiness as we enter into a more challenging world into becoming future leaders who are expected to respond to the demands of Bangsamoro people towards right to self-determination”, said Omar Mohamad, a participant.
The chapter who hosted the training recommended of having Trainers’ Training for the upcoming related program of Cluster-3. “…So that we can have more facilitators in the grassroots who will facilitate the capacity building of our constituents in different barangays”, the participant said.
