UNYPAD Matalam Chapter Cluster 3, North Cot Prov’l Committees hold Islamic symposium and give updates on GPH-MILF peace process

MATALAM, NORTH COTABATO / June 4, 2018 – The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) Matalam Chapter Cluster 3 and North Cotabato Provincial Committees hosted an Islamic symposium on Wednesday (May 27) aimed to strengthen unity and enlighten faith among the Ummah of the province and give updates on the Government of the Philippines (GPH)- Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) peace process.

With the concerted efforts of the Provincial Political Committee, Women Affairs Committee, Information Committee, Da’wah Committee and Tarbiyyah Committee the event was successfully done.

Around 478 participants coming from different sectors attended the symposium that was held at Hidaya Al-Arabie Al-Islamie, Central Malamote, this town.

Vice Governor Nasser Mustapha of PolCom cited that cooperation is the vital to attain the goal of Bangsamoro people and MILF leadership for a peaceful and developed Bangsamoro homeland.

Mads Timpolok, North Cotabato Director, InfoCom, lauded UNYPAD Cluster III Matalam Chapter headed by the Chapter Chairman Hashim Kandalayang Usman and Chapter Chairwomen Mary Ann Usman Dela Torre for their efforts in holding the symposium.

“This signifies that the purpose of UNYPAD is good as well,” Director Timpolok underscored.
SPO2 Rasib Usman gave an informative explanation on the evil effects and consequences of indulging on illegal drugs. He told the audiences, particularly the youth, that the prohibited substance can destroy mental, physical and spiritual well-being of the users.

Dats Magon, Deputy Secretary for Administration UNYPAD-National Level, gave an updates regarding the current status of Bangsamoro Basic Law, the fruit of the almost two decades of GPH-MILF peace process.

He emphasized that the ideological track of the Bangsamoro struggle is to lift the supreme words of Allah (SWT) over the homeland.

Magon also narrated the highlights of the Bangsamoro struggle in the 1970s and 1980s. He also explained that the MILF employs consultative, collective and transparent measures in its policy and briefly explained the 50 years program of the Front.

The resource person also discussed the security mechanisms of the peace process such as such as political track, security track and normalization track.

Muslim Missionaries namely Sheik Abubakar Gaga, Sheik Nasrudin Musa, Sheik Luqman Sultan were invited to give Muhadhara to the event participants.

They focused their discussions on Islamic Values, the Sunnah of Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and teachings of the Holy Quran.

They encouraged the participants to find time to reflect and assess oneself to check if they veer away from Islamic tenets.

The missionaries reminded the audiences that holy month of Ramadan gives an opportunity to Muslim Ummah to gain more rewards through fasting, mediation, more prayers and giving charity.

“Sabr or patience are among the values every Muslim must observe or possess and being patient is one of the characters of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), the lecturers emphasized.

Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five Pillars of Islam. Every able-bodied Muslim must observe Fasting by abstaining from eating, drinking or engaging carnal activities before the break dawn until sunset.

Every good deed done during this month of Ramadan will gain multiple rewards that can be reaped in the hereafter.
