NORTHERN KABUNTALAN, MAGUINDANAO (May 25, 2016) — The United Youth for Peace and Development, Inc. (UNYPAD) North Cotabato Provincial Chapter- Cluster 1 held a Municipal Orientation attended by officers and members of UNYPAD North Cotabato- Cluster 1 headed by its Provincial Chairman Akmad Kumayog.
The said program was held at Barangay Damatog, Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao on May 20, 2016. Mr. Haron Endaila, a barangay official delivered the welcome address and formally opened the program before the participants who came from different barangays of the said municipality.
Mr. Moksing Pada, staff of the Committee on Campaign and Advocacy gave the rationale of the activity. He emphasized that the organization is not only intended for the youth but the wisdom of elders are necessary in achieving the organization’s mission that is why the relationship between the youth and the elders shall be strong and binding.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jordan Talusob, National Secretary on Campaign and Advocacy enlightened the participants by relating histories on why Bangsamoro are still fighting for right to self- determination (RSD.
He gave at least three reasons on why there is a need to create an organization based on the sayings of Omar Ibnul Khattab (may Allah pleases him). He quoted “There’s no religion without an organization, There’s no organization without a leader, and there’s no leader without a followers”.
He explained that UNYPAD since its existence had established linkages with local, national, and international entities in accordance with its mandate to help alleviate the plight of the people in Mindanao and other places especially the marginalized sectors of society.
Ustadz Yusoph Lumambas, Secretaray General of UNYPAD in his words of wisdom elucidated the significance of establishing an organization in Islamic perspective. He mentioned one of the verses in Glorious Qur’an” The importance of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is bad”.
The programs and services of UNYPAD that it offers are to train the members on leadership and management, handling and procedures of meetings, and especially in conflict management and resolution because based on records, there were one hundred twenty seven family feuds (rido) that occurred every year since 2000 to 2005 and the reason behind these conflicts were politics and land boundaries.
Lumambas added that the major focus of the UNYPAD is to alleviate political, social, economic and spiritual aspect of its member as well as the Bangsamoro people in general.
Before the closing program, Ustadz Nasser Kabalu, the appointed Municipal Chairman expressed his commitment before his co-officers and members in UNYPAD.
“Whoever seeks a position is a weak leader and if the majority trust you to become a leader that is a strong and successful leadership”, Kabalu emphasized.
Makon Gumaga, North Cotabato Cluster 1 Officer expressed his support for future activities of UNYPAD North Cotabato Cluster 1 particularly during the advent of Holy Month of Ramadhan.
He encouraged newly organized chapters to conduct symposiums and other related programs to elevate the awareness of the members.
