ZAMBOANGA City (September 29, 2014) – The Zamboanga City Chapter of the United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) under the leadership of Zulfhicar Samsaraji, UNYPAD Regional Coordinator for Western Mindanao, established office at Suterville, Zamboanga City.
Samsaraji believed that the said establishment of office in Zamboanga will make organization more visible and help implement its programs and services more effectively.
“The office is not only for Zamboanga Chapter but it is for the entire western Mindanao regional chapter of the UNYPAD,” Samsaraji pointed out.
He disclosed that Yusoph Lumambas, Secretary-General of the UNYPAD, graced the opening of the new office on September 12, 2014.
He added that this may help bridge the gap between Muslims and Christians brought about by the Zamboanga siege as the office can also be a venue for peace activities in the place, which include interfaith dialogues, among others.
According to Lumambas, there would be a separate more formal inauguration of UNYPAD Office in Zambaoanga in which local government officials of Zamboanga City, security sector, local civil society organizations, International Monitoring Team, United Nations Agencies and other international non-government organizations based in Zamboanga City are going to be invited.
Lumambas other activities were the series of peace dialogues and forums conducted in Basilan and Tawi-Tawi from September 13-19, 2014. (UNYPAD news)
