COTABATO CITY/October 12 – The leaders of North Cotabato Cluster-3 accompanied by Cluster-2 provincial chapters of the United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) had met with the Executive Council Officers of UNYPAD at the national office, Rosales St., Cotabato City on Thursday, October 10, to discuss issues and concerns existing in their areas of responsibilities that require responses from the organization.
Having felt the need to strengthen the implementation of capacity building and advocacy programs of the organizations as an answer to these problems, Gutierrez Lumenda, provincial chairman of Cluster-3, initiated to meet with the UNYPAD President Dr Rahib Kudto, Vice President for Internal Affairs Tu Alid Alfonso, and Secretary General Yusoph Lumambas along with the cluster-2 leaders.
Gutierrez underpinned the urgency of doubling organizational efforts of various chapters of UNYPAD in responding to community concerns like conducting community peace symposiums and seminar-workshops, among others.
“The cluster-3 chapter feels the extreme need to conduct more symposiums to update our communities on the progress of the GPH-MILF peace process and the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) as this will guide them towards right direction,” Gutierrez said.
Gutierrez stressed that since the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) is now at the hands of the Congress, the grassroots communities must be updated on the clear status of the Bangsamoro law.
“This is to avoid over expectations that will lead them to serious frustrations as it might beget violence,” he clarified.
Tu Alid Alfonso, Vice President for Internal Affairs, said that among of the highlights of conversation with the leaders of cluster-3 is concerning the mobilization for the activity of their chapter.
“For the smooth implementation of their activity in the community specially the organizing and solidarity program, the said organization’s chapter requested motor bike,” Tu disclosed.
North Cotabato Cluster-3 Provincial chapter is composed of Carmen, Kabacan, Matalam, M’lang, Magpet, Makilala, President Roxas, and other areas under the second district of North Cotabato province.
