UNYPAD-Women Affairs Committee conducts Women Peace Summit

Cotabato City/March 12, 2020 – Driven by the goal to capacitate young leaders including the women, the United Youth for Peace and Development, Inc. (UNYPAD) – Sultan Kudarat Provincial Chapter organized and conducted the 1st UNYPAD-SK Women’s Peace Summit with the theme, “Women Empowerment for Sustainable Development “ on March 6-8, 2020 at Isulan, Sultan Kudarat Province.
The Peace Summit was participated by persevering women leaders from different municipal chapters of UNYPAD-Sultan Kudarat such as Isulan, Tacurong City, Lambayong, Persident Quirino and Bagumbayan chapters. It aims to build up strong confidence for the women so that they can actively participate in nation building.
On the first night of the summit, the participants got to know each other by introducing themselves individually. Afterwards, they were tasked to create a slogan about the significance of women.
During the first day, Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police together with the Hijabie Troopers participated the peace summit. PCpl Zeril Huddah Tocao, a hijabie trooper, together with PCpl Princess Grace Ibot delivered an inspirational message. They discussed the different laws being implemented that protect the rights of the women in the country.
Halima G. Alfonso, UNYPAD-Cotabato Chairwoman, introduced and discussed Organizational Management and Women as leaders in Islam. She also gave ideas on how to manage and overcome hurdles to jump in the organization.
Afterwards, Alfonso led the bonfire on the night activity where in the participants shared their inspiring and heart-stopping life stories and shows their genuine personalities.
The last day of the Peace Summit was spent with different fun games. The participants enjoyed the games and at the same time learned a lot from the lessons taught by the games which are all applicable in real life.
Baisanie J. Macabuat, Chairwoman of UNYPAD-Women Affairs Committee, also delivered a motivational message. “One good woman can be a great tool in nation building,” Baisanie emphasized. She also discussed the role of women in nation building. Passion and dedication to the organization were the traits demonstrated so well by the UNYPAD-WAC Chairwoman.
Lastly, Ustadh Ebrahim S. Nor, UNYPAD-SK Chairman expressed his gratitude to the guest speakers for spending their time and efforts for the success of the Peace Summit. He also thanked and congratulated the Women Affairs Committee (WAC)-SK Chapter under the leadership of Matabai B. Mapandi, for initiating this kind of activity.
Overall, the UNYPAD-SK Women’s Peace Summit is considered successful and this would not be possible without the unconditional efforts of all the committee all throughout the activity.
