UNYPAD Gensan meets NCMF Commissioner for youth sector

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (August 2, 2021) — Officers of the United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD)-General Santos City (Gensan) Chapter met with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Commissioner for Youth Sector on July 28, 2021 to discuss about the situation of Muslim youth in the city.

Together with fellow heads of Muslim youth organizations, Nurrudin Monding, UNYPAD Gensan’sChairman of Da’awah Committee, discussed with NCMF Commissioner Samer Allong the struggles of the Muslim youth in Gensan and various undertakings of different Muslim youth groups to develop the young Muslim in town.

Monding related to the visiting NCMF official the activities undertkan by the UNYPAD chapter since it was re-organized early this year.

He was joined by Albenzar Lumanggal, President of Federation of Muslim Student Association (FEMSA) and Prince Cedie Duran, President of Federation of Madaris Student Body Organization of General Santos City who also related their respective activities.

Monding cited the capability-building initiatives and Ramadhan-related aactivities such as Muhadarah and Islamic symposium UNYPAD-Gensan has hosted as part of its undertakings to capacitate its officers and members and serve the Muslim communities at the same time.

Allong was impressed how the NCMF Gensan Provicial Office under its newly appointed Provincial Director Aida Seddic and the Local Government Unit under City Mayor Ronner Rivera provide services to the Muslim constituents of the city.

He advised the Muslim youth leaders to continue their capability building activities and strengthen the partnership with the NCMF and LGU and collaborate with line agencies that can provide projects like the Department of Agriculture, Department of Labor and Employment, and TESDA.

The young NCMF commissioner also visited the Al-Ai’sha Markadz, a Qur’an memorization school for girls located at Barangay Ligaya in this town.

Allong was the first president of UNYPAD Davao City Chapter. He looked forward for future engagement with the Muslim youth groups.
