UNYPAD- Relief lnternational implement SPIDS Project

COTABATO CITY (November 5, 2021) — The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) in partnership with Relief International (RI) are currently implementing 1 year project entitled “Stabilization, Peace-Promoting Inclusive Development and Social Cohesion in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Northern Mindanao, and CARAGA Regions, the Philippines” (SPIDS).
Funded by German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), the project aims to strengthen peace constituencies, stability and social cohesion through effective state and civil society engagement for inclusive peace-promoting local development and informed community participation in peace processes and good governance in Mindanao.
The project has three components of services to be delivered: First – good governance for inclusive and peace promoting local development processes is fostered through informed and effective civic engagement; Second – peace constituencies and social cohesion are enhanced through effective multi-stakeholder engagement; Third – communities from target locations are better informed on the BARMM parliamentary system, national elections and related electoral processes, contributing to violence mitigation in upcoming 2022 national election.
On October-November 2021, UNYPAD and RI facilitated simultaneous Barangay Development Plan (BDP) and Annual lnvestment Plan Review, Formulation and Social Audit Training in 20 selected Barangay in the province of North Cotabato in Special Geographic Area (SGA) and Province of Maguindanao.
Engr. Saidali Makakena Barangay Chairman of Lower ldtig in municipality of General Salipada K. Pendatun gave his full support to the implementation of the project.
He said, “We are very thankful for choosing us as one of the beneficiaries of this project.”
Sitte Racma Butuan, barangay chairwoman of Balungis in Pikit (SGA) BARMM, said, “Any activities regarding development and requisites to the immediate implementation of this project, our barangay local government unit is in full support and expect our full participation in any trainings-seminars to follow the daily implementation plan of this project.”
“l am pretty sure that unity and working together lead us to the harmonious peace and development in our community,” she added.
Morsid Macabangin project officer said, “l saw and observed your (BLGU’s, CSO’s) full participation and other sectors who are the expected target beneficiaries of our project.”
“Continue our engagement and participation to achieve and attain the proposed project of every barangay,” he added.
The project officer said, “Part of the activities for this project is to come up with a participatory procedures and community engagement on which every sectors are represented and participated during the review and training.”
Macabangin said the Barangay Development Plan and Annual investment Plan are very important because these are the mainstream in implementing the programs and projects design in the barangay.
UNYPAD-Relief lnternational staff thanked the Barangay officials and CSO’s who attended the activities.
The municipalities benefiting the project are Pikit, Midsayap, GSKP and Datu Paglas.
After evaluation, 20 Barangays were chosen as target beneficiaries of the project namely Fort Pikit, Balungis, Panicupan, Nalapaan, Lagundi, Mudseng, Tumbras, Kapinpilan, Lower Idtig, Bulod, Panusulen, Lasangan, Brgy. Damawato, Brgy. Bunawan, Madidis, Poblacion, and Sepaka.
