UNYPAD-Relief lnternational hold voters’ education training of trainers

PIKIT, SGA-BARMM ( March 15, 2022) -The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) in partnership with Relief International (RI) with the financial support of Germany-based General Federal Foreign Office held a trainer’s training on voters education for 2022 national elections and BARMM parliamentary system on March 10, 202 held at Jazz and Grill Resto, Barangay Fort in this town.

The activity was aimed to strengthen peace constituencies, stability and social cohesion through effective state and civil society engagement for inclusive peace-promoting local development and informed community participation in peace processes and good governance in Mindanao.

The project has three components of services to be delivered as follows: (a) Good governance for inclusive and peace promoting local development processes is fostered through informed and effective civic engagement; (b)Peace constituencies and social cohesion are enhanced through effective multi-stakeholder engagement; and (c) Communities from target locations are better informed on the BARMM parliamentary system, national elections and related electoral processes, contributing to violence mitigation in the upcoming 2022 national elections.

Morsid Macabangin, Project Officer, said, “We need to understand the difference between presidential form of government and parliamentary system which is now in the BARMM.”

“This five selected barangays from Special Geographic Area in BARMM are very lucky because after this training you can differentiate presidential and parliamentary system,” he added.

Norodin Guiamaludin, UNYPAD Regional Coordinator for Central Mindanao, serve as lecturer. He discussed the right to vote of the citizens and the difference between the presidential form of government and parliamentary system.

“Every one of us has a right to choose and vote wisely for the sake of our future, mostly in Bangsamoro Region,” he said.
Myrna Panayaman, a participant from Barangay Lagunde said, “This voters’ education is very essential for us especially in our situation today. Our participation in 2022 national and local election is very important.”

In her message, Sittie Fairoza Alonto, Area Coordination from Relief lnternational said, “I am very happy to see you (participants). You are very active and participative.”

She hoped that the training was beneficial to the participants and would be re-echoed in their respective barangays.

The organizers were very thankful for the participation of delegates coming from different CSO’s in the barangay.
