KABACAN, North Cotabato (July 25, 2014)—“Raising Socio-Political and Spiritual Awareness towards Bangsamoro Empowerment” was the theme of Ramadhan Islamic Symposium with Peace Advocacy organized by the United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) Kabacan chapter in partnership with the Community Leaders held at Sitio Bual, Barangay Bannawag, Kabacan, Cotabato on July 5, 2014.
Omar Mohamad, chairman of the UNYPAD USM chapter, gave the overview of the activity. Ustadz Zaidon Katugan, Musrif of Dawah Kabacan 1, tackled the significance of Ramadhan and importance of Tarawi and Tahajud prayers.
Datuan Magon, the UNYPAD Acting Vice President for External Affairs, in his input, said, “Among the objectives of the Moro struggle is to supersede the unbalance governance in the homeland of Bangsamoro.”
Atty. Antonio Kenoc, member of the MILF peace panel, emphasized to the community the role of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC).
Ustadz Abdulgapor Mokalam, Da’wah and Education Staff, said that the foundation of all works is the faith to Allah.
The participants in the said community symposium came from Sitio Bual, Barangay Bannawag, Barangay Sanggadon, Sinto Trainta, Barangay Nangaan, Barangaay Pedtad, Bualan and Bangilan.
On the other hand, the UNYPAD has also conducted an Islamic symposium on July 11 held at National Office, Purok Pinnen, Rosales St., RH-6, Cotabato City. Ustadz Yusoph Lumambas, the UNYPAD Secretary General, said that one of the objectives of the program is to strengthen the individuals’ faith to Allah.
“These are series of activities during this month of Ramadhan here in the UNYPAD’s national office, and all over the organized chapters,” he disclosed.
The UNYPAD Zamboanga Chapter on July 18 has organized the same activity with Iftar (breaking of fast) held at Masjid Julian, SouthCom Village, Zamboanga City while the Tawi-tawi provincial chapter has conducted the same program in their respective areas.
