Youth in Davao del Norte join UNYPAD

May 15, 2013: The UNYPAD had established it’s another chapter in Davao del Norte, which comprises areas of Tagum City, Panabo City, the municipalities of Carmen and Asuncion.  The community orientation on “what is UNYPAD all about” was held at the Purok 7, Tribal Hall, Barangay Hijo in the City of Tagum last May 5, 2013.

The said activity was attended by 75 participants mostly from youth groups, traditional leaders, and women. The affair’s theme was “Youth Empowerment in Islamic way.”

The program was facilitated by the community-based organization called Al-Hijo As-Shabaab Muslim Da’wah Organization or Al-HAMDO.

The newly installed UNYPAD Provincial Chapter Officers for Davao del Norte are: Mr. Abdul Basit Morcid, the chapter President; Mr. Misuari Dimaokom, Vice President for Internal Affairs; Abdul Khaliq Agnaya, Provicial Secretary.

For the committee heads are: Mr. Amer Calogue, Secretary on Da’wah and Education is; Mr. Fahd Macatindog, the Secretary on Research and Information, and Mr. Hassan Usman, Secretary on Campaign and Advocacy.

The Vice President for External Affairs and the two Deputy Secretary for Admin and Budget and Appropriation, Secretary for Health and Disaster Action as well as the Women Affairs Committee are still vacant. The newly appointed officers have promised to reach other Moro communities in Davao del Norte by organizing potential youth leaders and then they will fill the vacant positions.

Mr. Morcid, the Davao del Norte Provincial Chapter President and a ‘Kalagan’ tribe relayed during the program that the villagers and his colleagues were very thankful to the UNYPAD.

“Finally, we are now organized in our community and we will contribute our time, resources to this organization so that we can be productive members of our communities.” he said.

In response to Mr. Morcid message, the National Vice President for Internal Affairs Mr. Tu Alid Alfonso replied, “we will find ways to respond to the future requests of our chapters here especially on the Capacity Building Program of our organization, which is very much feasible for all the chapters to avail it for free”.

Mr. Alfonso said that UNYPAD has been serving as University of All of its officers and members and the communities.

Along with Mr. Alfonso in organizing the province of Davao del Norte was Mr. Gabriel C. Palma, the UNYPAD Chapter President of Davao City.

Meanwhile, another organizing activity was scheduled this Friday, May 17 in the Province of Bukidnon. Hundreds of participants will be expected to attend on the gathering. The possible topics to be included in the program are the discussions on Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro, UNYPAD all about, and the setting-up of Bukidnon Provincial Chapter Officers. (UNYPAD News)
